Aspect ratio
Same project, three frames. You don't choose at upload — the timeline edit is shape-agnostic until you hit Export. Pick the format, preview adjusts live, render. Want a different one tomorrow? Re-export. No re-analysis required.
How conversion works
When you export at a different aspect ratio than the source, Sapari has to decide how to fit the frame. Two modes — same answer to a different question:
Conversion mode
Live demoGoing from 16:9 source to 9:16 export — pick how
Letterbox preserves the full original frame. Bars (top/bottom or left/right) fill the gaps. Nothing is cropped, nothing is lost. Best when composition matters and bars are acceptable.
Caption styling
Caption appearance lives at the export panel — not the timeline — because the right caption style depends on the platform. A 9:16 TikTok export wants big centered captions; a 16:9 YouTube export wants smaller lower-thirds; a 1:1 LinkedIn export wants something in between.
Live preview means you see what shipped before it ships. Pick a preset for the format, or override individually: font, size, position, color, background fill, drop shadow, opacity.
Render quality
720p for drafts and platforms that re-encode aggressively (most social — they'll downscale you anyway). 1080p for archival and direct distribution. The render time difference is small; pick whichever matches your output.
4K is on the roadmap for Viral tier; check /pricing for current status.
Render quality
Live demoTwo tiers today; 4K is on the Viral roadmap
1080p — full quality. Larger file, slightly slower render. Good for archival, direct distribution, and platforms that preserve source quality (YouTube, Vimeo). Pick this when you'd notice the difference.
Audio
Every export goes through the same audio pass: voice levelled to a broadcast-standard loudness (matches what YouTube and Spotify play at), music ducked under voice automatically when assets are present, profanity bleeped or muted per your settings. No knobs to turn at export time — what you heard in the preview is what ships.
Watermarks and retention
Free-tier exports carry a small Sapari watermark in a corner. All paid tiers (Hobby, Creator, Viral) and active beta accounts export watermark-free. Once rendered, exports stay available in the project's exports tab for download; retention varies by tier.
| Tier | Watermark | Retention | Quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Yes | 7 days | 720p / 1080p |
| Hobby | No | 14 days | 720p / 1080p |
| Creator | No | 30 days | 720p / 1080p |
| Viral | No | 30 days | 720p / 1080p · 4K soon |
After retention expires, the file is removed; the project + timeline data stays, so you can always re-export.
